“When I moved to Nashville, I was scared that I wouldn’t find the HIV care I needed. But I was so wrong!  At CARES, they saw me and they listened.  It was the first time I felt hope and that I could fight HIV.  I felt healthy and strong physically, but I still felt lonely and isolated as an HIV positive man.  So, I started attending a CARES’ men’s group which helped connect me with other HIV positive men.  The mental health and addiction support groups have been key in my becoming whole and healthy. My time at CARES has been life-giving in so many ways.  It’s not just the programs but also the special little touches. Getting birthday cards signed by all the staff and going to client holiday parties mean so much to me. When I walk through the doors at CARES, I feel like I’m part of the family, like we’re in this together, like we’re on the same team.”
