Thursday, June 11, 2015

The 24th Annual Nashville AIDS Walk and 5K Run is proud to announce multi-platinum artist Ty Herndon as this year’s honorary chair. The Nashville AIDS Walk and 5K Run is Tennessee’s oldest continuously running HIV/AIDS fundraiser and one of the city’s highest profile events. This year’s goal is to raise $240,000 to help end the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Middle Tennessee. The event takes place on Saturday, October 3 at Public Square Park.

Herndon is a Grammy nominated and Dove Award winning country artist with more than a dozen chart-toppers to his name. His Concert for Love and Acceptance on June 12 in Nashville will be the first country music event of its kind, bringing together artists and celebrities from all across America to support at-risk youth.

“I am thrilled to be a part of this year’s Nashville AIDS Walk,” said Herndon. “Nashville CARES does incredible work fighting HIV/AIDS in the community. I hope that my involvement in this event will bring awareness to HIV/AIDS and help end the stigma that surrounds the disease.”

The Nashville AIDS Walk and 5K Run is proudly presented by NPS Pharmacy. The event is a family-oriented team walk and timed 5K run that gathers participants from all parts of the community. Businesses, civic clubs, churches, friends and families walk or run while celebrating the vital role that Nashville CARES plays in ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Middle Tennessee. Registration starts at 10:00 am and the walk starts at 11:00 am.

“The Nashville AIDS Walk and 5K Run raises money to help Nashville CARES work toward our mission of ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Middle Tennessee,” said Patrick Hamilton, Chief Development Officer. “It is also a great opportunity for us share the message that HIV/AIDS is still an issue in our local community.”

Herndon started his own Nashville AIDS Walk and 5K Run walk team, named Ty’s Team. Visit NashvilleAIDSWalk.com to register and join his team. His goal is to raise $20,000 for Nashville CARES.

“I have the best fans in the world and I hope they support me by joining my Nashville AIDS Walk team,” said Herndon. “Together we can raise money to support the vital work of Nashville CARES.”
