Overdose Awareness and Prescription Drug Takeback Day

August 31 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Nashville CARES’ Curbside Community Healthcare Mobile Medical Unit and the Nashville CARES Safety First and DART Program will partner with the Department of Corrections and the Rutherford County Day Reporting Center to provide free services on August 31, 2023, in observance of International Overdose Awareness Day. Services include free HIV/HCV testing, PrEP referrals, free condoms (all sizes, including latex-free), and lube.

The Rutherford County Day Reporting Center serves as an alternative to incarceration by allowing eligible participants to benefit from programs, resources, and personal rehabilitation. International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) is the world’s largest annual campaign to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died from an overdose, and acknowledge the grief of the family and friends left behind. Prescription Drug Take Back Days aim to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs while educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.
