Counseling Services:
Counseling services at Nashville CARES are designed to meet the everyday needs of people living with HIV/AIDS. Our staff helps you discuss your feelings, relationships, and the challenges of living with HIV/AIDS. We also provide support to family, significant others, friends and loved ones who need to talk about how HIV/AIDS has affected them. Services include:
“Affected” Support Group (weekly) HIV Alcohol & Drug Recovery Support Group (daily) HIV+ Gay Men’s Support Group (weekly) HIV Transgender Group (monthly as listed) Men’s Hemophilia & HIV Support Group (monthly) Montgomery County Support Group (monthly) Rutherford County HIV+ Support Group (monthly) Sumner/Robertson County Support Group (monthly) Confluence Gay Men’s Discussion Series (frequency varies with topic) Healthy Relationships HIV+ Discussion Series (as listed) Under 30 Poz Gay Men’s group (as listed) Women’s Healthy Support Group (monthly)
Alcohol and Drug Treatment Services:
CARES offers an Intensive Outpatient Day Treatment Program for people who need to address addiction issues. Groups meet 5 days a week and individual treatment sessions may be scheduled as needed. The program serves lunch daily and activities like trips to the movies are planned on a regular basis.
Day treatment group topics include HIV/AIDS treatment and care, safer sex practices, spirituality, and medication, health and nutritional updates. Evening groups and individual sessions are available for those who may not be able to meet during the day.
