Counseling and Therapeutic Support

Counseling Services:

Counseling services at Nashville CARES are designed to meet the everyday needs of people living with HIV/AIDS. Our staff  helps you discuss your feelings, relationships, and the challenges of living with HIV/AIDS.   We also provide support to family, significant others, friends and loved ones who need to talk about how HIV/AIDS has affected them.  Services include:
  • Individual, Couple or Family Counseling:
Meet with a counselor individually or with a significant other to address day to day issues.
  • Support Groups:
Available to anyone who would like to meet with other people living with HIV to talk about things that affect your life.
  • In-Home Support:
If you are not able to come into the CARES office, a counselor may be able to meet you in your home.
  • Hospital Support:
If you are in the hospital, a counselor can provide support while you are there.
  • Pastoral Care:
Pastoral counselors are available to address spiritual issues.

Alcohol and Drug Treatment Services:

CARES offers an Intensive Outpatient Day Treatment Program for people who need to address addiction issues. Groups meet 5 days a week and individual treatment sessions may be scheduled as needed. The program serves lunch daily and activities like trips to the movies are planned on a regular basis.

Day treatment group topics include HIV/AIDS treatment and care, safer sex practices, spirituality, and medication, health and nutritional updates.

Evening groups and individual sessions are available for those who may not be able to meet during the day
